[Latest News] Ho Chi Minh City Allocates Over VND 1,600 Billion to Support Data Cleanup Workforce

The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has approved a funding package totaling more than VND 1,600 billion (approximately USD 66 million) to support data cleanup workers and digital service providers, aiming to strengthen the city’s digital economy and improve data quality in the public sector.

Under the program, the city will provide financial incentives to both public and private entities involved in data standardization, integration, and cleansing services. The initiative forms part of HCM City’s broader plan to modernize its digital infrastructure, improve administrative efficiency, and facilitate the development of digital government services.

Comprehensive Support for Data Workforce

According to the city’s department of information and communications, the funding will be used to support enterprises and individuals performing core data management activities - including data collection, validation, de-duplication, and enrichment - which are essential to ensure accurate and reliable data in government databases and digital platforms.

City authorities noted that high-quality, standardized data is becoming increasingly critical as local agencies expand digital services and adopt technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and big data analytics. Reliable datasets help accelerate digital transformation and enable more effective public services, from health and education to transport and urban management.

The funding package also includes incentives for organizations that develop innovative tools and technologies for data quality improvement, such as automated data cleansing software, smart data integration systems, and advanced analytics platforms.

The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee is responsible for implementing the resolution in a manner that ensures transparency, openness, timeliness, and proper disbursement to eligible beneficiaries in compliance with the Law on the State Budget and relevant legal regulations.
